With the 2024 MLB Trade Deadline on July 30, the Yankees will attempt to make changes to their roster, and are looking at the pitching market to bolster their bullpen and potentially their starting rotation.

The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal is reporting that the Yankees are one of a number of teams that are interested in Miami Marlins All-Star closer Tanner Scott. The other teams include the Los Angeles Dodgers, Baltimore Orioles, Kansas City Royals and Philadelphia Phillies.

Scott is having a great year for a 37-66 Marlins team, pitching to a 1.21 ERA while locking down 18 saves in 20 opportunities. He's also struck out 51 batters in 44.1 innings pitched.

The Yankees' reported interest in Scott does not come as a surprise as the left-hander's strikeout potential is something New York is looking to add to their bullpen, and the Marlins have been in "sell-mode" since trading Luis Arraez to the San Diego Padres earlier this season.

Rosenthal also notes Los Angeles Angels reliever Carlos Estevez is likely another arm the Yankees and those other aforementioned teams are looking into.

Estevez has pitched to a 2.38 ERA and has converted 20 saves in 23 opportunities for the 45-58 Angels. The right-hander's strikeout rate (32 strikeouts over 34.0 innings) is not as high as Scott's, but he is another viable option.

Another name being linked to the Yankees is Chicago Cubs starter Jameson Taillon. MLB.com's Mark Feinsand reports the Yankees, Orioles, Houston Astros and Boston Red Sox have expressed interested in the veteran right-hander.

Taillon has had a solid season with the Cubs, with a 2.96 ERA in 17 starts. Of course, Taillon has history with the Yankees from 2021-22. In those two seasons, Taillon had a 4.10 ERA, including a 3.91 ERA in 2022.

The right-hander's name being linked to the Yanks is interesting as New York has a rotation of five starters that includes Gerrit Cole, Carlos Rodon, Nestor Cortes, Marcus Stroman and Luis Gil -- and Clarke Schmidt recovering from an injury.

Bringing in Taillon could allow the Yankees to move Gil into the bullpen to help their beleaguered middle relief corps in the same way Jose Butto has for the Mets.
