Yankees infielder DJ LeMahieu was at the team's complex at Steinbrenner Field again on Thursday -- a day after hitting at the facility along with Giancarlo Stanton, Clint Frazier, and Tyler Wade.
And LeMahieu said Thursday that his plan is to stay in Tampa for the foreseeable future.
According to Bryan Hoch of MLB.com, LeMahieu said being able to work out at Steinbrenner Field is keeping him "sane" admist the coronavirus shutdown, adding that the gyms are closed in Michigan (where he lives) and the weather is better in Florida.
Manager Aaron Boone, much of his staff, and a bunch of players left spring training in Tampa on Tuesday to head home, but LeMahieu, some of his teammates, and some members of the coaching staff -- including hitting coach Marcus Thames -- remain.
Thames, who was at the complex on Wednesday, explained the precautions that are being taken.
"Try to stay away from people as much as you can," Thames told reporters. "It's hard because just in the industry that we're in. But I live here. So if guys want to work out I still have to come in and try to help them out as much as I can. Hopefully we can get through this together."
Asked if the drills he's helping to conduct have been impacted due to coronavirus, Thames said yes.
"I have to wear gloves," he said. It's weird. I have to wear latex gloves and batting gloves (and) try to stay safe. Just trying to listen to the health people and make sure we're doing the right thing."
Last week, after the start of the regular season had already been pushed back to at least April 9 due to coronavirus, the league announced that -- following CDC guidelines calling for social distancing for eight weeks -- the season would not start until at least the second week of May.
