EARLIER PICKS

DAY 1

No. 25 PICK: SPENCER JONES

The Yankees took Jones with their first pick of the draft.

Vanderbilt hitting coach Mike Baxter told SNY's Andy Martino this about Jones: “Huge power potential with good current hit tool - athleticism off the charts for size, incredible runner for 6’7". Great teammate and kid. Needs at-bats, but tremendous upside.”

There's a deep dive on Jones here.

No. 61 PICK: DREW THORPE

The Yankees took Thorpe out of Cal Poly with their second pick of the draft. Thorpe is the No. 61 ranked prospect in the draft, according to MLB.com.

MLB.com analysis: "At 6-foot-4 and 195 pounds, Thorpe is an intriguing combination of stuff and projection in a college arm. He’s missed bats consistently since joining Cal Poly’s weekend rotation in 2020, thanks largely to what might be the best changeup in the class."

DAY 2

No. 100 PICK: P TRYSTAN VRIELING

With their first pick on Day 2 of the MLB Draft, the Yankees went with the 6-foot-4, 200-pound pitcher out of Gonzaga University.

Vrieling, a right-hander, has a four-pitch mix with a fastball that sits around 91-95 mph. He also throws both a curveball and slider and rounds out his arsenal with a deceptive changeup.

No. 130 PICK: OF ANTHONY HALL

The Yankees selected Hall, an outfielder out of the University of Oregon, with their fourth-round pick.

The 6-foot-2, 200-pound junior from San Diego batted .333 with 14 home runs, 17 doubles and five triples while driving in 56 runs in 59 games started.

No. 160 PICK: P ERIC REYZELMAN

New York added the fire-balling right-hander out of LSU in the fifth round.

At 6-foot-2 and 188 pounds, Reyzelman can top out at 100 mph and struck out 66 batters in 42.1 innings pitched in his lone season with the Tigers after transferring from San Francisco.

No. 190 PICK: P CHASE HAMPTON

The Yanks selected Hampton, a sophomore from Texas Tech, with their sixth-round pick.

The 6-foot-2, 225-pound right-handed pitcher went 4-1 in 18 appearances (seven starts) and pitched to a 3.86 ERA in 44.1 innings.

No. 280 PICK: P MATT KEATING

The Yanks selected the 6-foot-1, 215-pound right-handed pitcher out of the University of Southern California in the ninth round.

A sophomore from Omaha, Neb., Keating pitched to a 3.60 ERA in 30 innings in 24 appearances out of the Trojans' bullpen, securing seven saves and striking out 44 batters.
