The Mets are 1.5 games back of a postseason spot with eight games left in the season.

Despite an overall record of 24-28, the Mets gave put themselves in a last fighting chance position, as they have won three of their last four games.

It's possible, but time is running out.

"We're not out of it. We've got a ton of fight on this team," said Justin Wilson. "The fact that we can still compete for a spot makes every game important which makes the atmosphere that much better. I wouldn't say it's any more difficult, but down the stretch, the losses hurt a little more, and the wins feel a little bit better just because it's the situation we're in."

"We know he have a great team," added Robinson Cano. "We've been in some tough games, this is a tough year for a lot of us. You gotta play 60 games, but you have to be ready from the first inning to the last."

Cano knows the pressure is on.

"It's more like you play like a playoff every game," he said.

Manager Luis Rojas continues to see positivity and a fight from his team.

"These guys, they're always fighting. You see how this group just fights, and they talk among themselves about just staying positive. We had a tough loss yesterday, how the game got separated early. And coming back today, the demeanor of the group, everything was just positive, just talking about how good we are as a baseball team, and what we can do on the field, and they were very positive," he said.

"As a team, we stay together, we keep grinding, and we know our goals," said Cano. "We know what we want, and we know if we want to make it to the playoffs , we gotta go out there every day and try to win every game. So that's our goal, and we're going to keep fighting to the end."
