Knicks PG Trey Burke -- a pending free agent -- said in early-December that he wanted to re-sign with the Knicks.

"I know how the business goes and if that is not an option, you're always auditioning for other teams. But personally, on record, I want to be here in New York City," Burke said. "You just never know, man. You never know in this league. Try not to put all your eggs in one basket because it is a business at the end of the day."

After making that statement, Burke fell out of the Knicks' rotation for most of December, but he has been getting some burn lately with Emmanuel Mudiay hurt -- including playing 33 minutes (and scoring 25 points) against the Celtics on Friday as the team potentially showcases him for interested teams.

While an NBA source has told the New York Post's Marc Berman than Burke would prefer to be traded, Burke told Berman that he thinks he can still be part of the Knicks' future.

"It's not something I'm thinking about a lot," Burke said. "As a basketball player, you look at other scenarios. How I'd fit in other scenarios, in that system, in that situation. But I think the direction of this organization, I want to be part of that. I know that there's still a lot I have to prove. That's fine with me. I knew coming into the organization, taking the G-League route [last season] instead of going to [Oklahoma City], it wasn't going to be easy."

If the Knicks trade Burke, who could be the odd-man-out at point guard with the team potentially keeping Frank Ntilikina and Mudiay, they could attempt to get a second-round pick in the Draft back in the return, according to Berman.

The 26-year-old Burke is averaging 11.6 points and 2.9 assists this season.
