Down in Triple-A, an insane game between the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders and Syracuse Mets Tuesday resulted in the Yankees affiliate fighting all the back for a 14-13 victory to move on to the postseason in a one-game playoff.

And one of the bigger storylines surfacing from that bout was Yankees top prospect Deivi Garcia pitching lights out from the bullpen.

Garcia has been fast-tracked through the Yanks' farm system this season, starting in High-A ball and moving up to Triple-A now. He has seen some struggles early on in a starting role, but he was moved to the bullpen in preparation for a possible call-up to the bigs.

And in a game that needed some shutdown pitching for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, Garcia put together his best performance yet with three scoreless innings, where he allowed just one hit and struck out two.

That's the type of outing that could help lead to the Yankees selecting Garcia's contract to see if he can replicate that in the majors. But would that be the best move for the Yankees in the first place?

The MLB experience for Garcia is obviously a major key for his development heading into the 2020 season where he could very well see time in pinstripes. However, there are a couple of factors the Yankees should consider when thinking about calling him up or not this month.

First, Garcia has pitched the most innings he ever has in his professional career this season. He's already tossed 111.1 innings across the three levels he's touched this year, which is 37.1 more than last season. While that margin isn't too high, it's unknown if the Yankees do have an innings limit on Garcia.

There's also the learning curve that he's endured in Triple-A after making the leap from Double-A Trenton. Garcia pitched to the tune of a 3.86 ERA over 11 starts in Double-A, but he currently has a 5.40 ERA in Triple-A. And before this stellar outing, Garcia allowed five earned runs over 2.2 innings in his previous two bullpen appearances.

He hasn't been the most consistent pitcher since his transition, so why not let him get used to a bullpen routine before simply seeing if he can make it work up in the Bronx?

It's food for thought, though the Yankees didn't have him move to the bullpen for no reason. With the RailRiders starting their postseason schedule on Wednesday against the Durham Bulls, Garcia's appearances will definitely be looked on with more eyes to see if he can show a little more consistency.

If he does so, his major league debut could be close.
