While many know about the "Arizona plan" MLB and the MLBPA are discussing right now as a potential 2020 season remedy, the "Grapefruit and Cactus League plan" is also on the table. And it would greatly benefit the Yankees if it were to go down.

It's less feasible due to the travel implications compared to the Arizona plan, given those spring training sites are in Florida and Arizona. However, FanGraphs did a projection of how it could play out and the Yankees were almost sure locks to reach the postseason.

The Yankees' division would be, well, easier than most with the National and American Leagues ceasing to exist. The Phillies would probably be their toughest competition, with the Blue Jays, Tigers and Pirates rounding it out.

Based off the projections from Dan Syzmborski of FanGraphs, he took out the overall "divisions" and had the season projected with each 15-team league. So he had the Yankees play the other 14 teams in the Grapefruit league, and had the universal DH put in as well.

The results? The Yankees led the entire Grapefruit league with a 69-43 record, with the Astros (66-46), Rays (64-48) and Twins (63-49) behind them. The Yankees' overall playoff probability was a whopping 89.2 percent, even with seven of last year's 10 playoff teams playing in the league.

Of course, the Arizona plan, with its closer proximity and keeping everyone in one central location while keeping the divisions in tact, makes much more sense in the long run. However, we can't knock the other idea here, and the Yankees may have an easier ride if it were to happen.
