Mets third baseman Todd Frazier and Nationals outfielder Adam Eaton found themselves in the center of a feud this week, which apparently stems back to 2016 when they were teammates with the White Sox.

Frazier alluded to a locker room incident that season prior to Tuesday's game when he fired back at Eaton for calling the Mets third baseman "childish" for jawing at him on the field.

"There are 23 of those guys, they know what happened," Frazier said.

When Eaton was asked about it, he dismissed it.

"What did I do? What happened in 2016?" he asked. "Man, he's like an old girlfriend."

Well, Dan Hayes of The Athletic covered the 2016 White Sox team -- a season marred in dysfunction from Adam LaRoche's sudden retirement because his 14-year-old son was no longer allowed in the clubhouse to Chris Sale cutting up the team's uniforms -- and revealed a little bit more of the backstory between Eaton and Frazier on Tuesday night.

Per Hayes, Frazier and Eaton got into a clubhouse fight in August in what was a result of Frazier's "loud Jersey attitude" clashing with Eaton's "grinder mentality" in the middle of a team-wide meltdown.

Eaton, who was involved in several altercations with teammates that season, moved his locker away from Frazier's. When asked by reporters why, he told them it was because of a vent aimed at his locker.

Frazier and Eaton confronted each other in the infield prior to Tuesday's game and had a civil conversation.

Perhaps they settled their differences. If not, the Mets and Nationals play each other eight more times this season and more fireworks could ensue.
