After a two-out strikeout against Washington Nationals RHP Max Scherzer to end the top of the second inning, Mets C Wilson Ramos wasted no time in getting his revenge.
In fact, he made history.
The next at-bat for Ramos came in the top of the fourth inning with no outs and two runners on base, delivering an RBI double deep down the left-field line.
Not only did the hit put the Mets on the board and ignite a four-run frame, tying the 1-1 game before taking a 4-1 lead, but it also etched his name in the franchise's record book.
With the knock, Ramos tied former Mets 3B David Wright to rank second in franchise history among hitting streaks at 26 games. Only former Mets OF Moises Alou has gone longer, recording a franchise-record 30-game hitting streak in 2007 from Aug. 23 to Sept. 26.
Wright did so from Sept. 17, 2006, to April 19, 2007. Ramos has done so since Aug. 3's four-hit breakout in the Mets' 7-5 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates.
