Mets slugger Pete Alonso is on the heels of history now.
Padding to a 4-0 win, the rookie crushed a three-run home run to extend the Met lead over the Miami Marlins to 7-0.
Jacob deGrom and Todd Frazier, who both singled, scored on the shot.
With the homer, Alonso is now one behind the rookie home record of 52 home runs set by Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge.
Alonso has four more games after Thursday to tie and potentially break the record, including one more against the Marlins and a season-ending three-game set against the Atlanta Braves.
