Derrick Rose never wanted to leave Chicago.

The former Knicks point guard, now with the Timberwolves, was born and raised in Chicago and playing for his hometown Bulls for the first seven years of his career before he was traded to New York in the summer of 2016.

On Thursday, footage from a documentary filmed by Stadium titled "Pooh: The Derrick Rose Story" was released and captured the moment Rose found out he was headed to New York and it was tough for the three-time All-Star to take.

Minutes before getting the phone call from his agent, BJ Armstrong, Rose was telling cameras that he was aware of the trade rumors but said he wanted to stay in Chicago and try to win there.

Armstrong then called Rose to inform him a trade to New York has been completed and the then-27-year-old began to break down in tears.

"There will always be twists and turns like this," Rose said in the documentary through tears. "I don't know how I feel right now. I'm anxious, but it's Chi. That s--t made me who I am."

Rose was Rookie of the Year in 2008-09 and then the MVP in 2010-11 with the Bulls but his career took a turn when he tore his ACL in 2012 and missed the entire 2012-13 season.

He played in just 10 games the following season and was never able to return to the MVP-caliber player he was in his final two seasons in Chicago.

Rose played one season with the Knicks, playing in 64 games and averaging 18 points per game before he had to undergo another knee surgery. His time in New York is perhaps most remembered for when he went AWOL prior to a game and flew back to Chicago to deal with a family issue relating to his mother.

He signed with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2017 and was traded later that season to the Utah Jazz.

He played this season with the Minnesota Timberwolves and is set to become a free agent again this summer.
