Mets RHP Tylor Megill, who has been on the IL since May 12 due to biceps tendinitis, is "tentatively scheduled" to start playing catch today, reports Anthony DiComo of MLB.com.
Per MLB.com, Megill's arm feels better, paving the way for him to start working toward a return.
Megill is eligible to come off the IL on May 27, but it's not clear if he'll be activated at that point or will need additional time to work back into game shape.
It's also not yet known if Megill will have to make any rehab starts before returning.
The Mets getting Megill back sooner rather than later would be a serious boost for a rotation that just lost Max Scherzer for six-to-eight weeks due to an oblique strain.
At the moment, the Mets are going to have to patch two rotation spots, which means the likely return of David Peterson to the rotation.
Options to fill the other rotation spot include Thomas Szapucki, Trevor Williams, and Adonis Medina.
