Two Yankees fall into Baseball Prospectus' Top 101 prospects for 2020

Deivi Garcia, Jasson Dominguez make the cut

Just as Baseball America and MLB Pipeline did last week, Baseball Prospectus has released their Top 101 prospects for the 2020 season, and two Yankees have made the list.

Deivi Garcia (No. 24) and Jasson Dominguez (No. 46) represent the pinstripes, and that makes sense considering they are both featured on the previously mentioned publications' lists. However, BA had Dominguez actually higher than Garcia at No. 38. Right-hander Clarke Schmidt was also on that list at No. 62, while Garcia came in at No. 65.

Garcia skyrocketed through the Yankees' system last season, going from High-A ball to Triple-A by the end of the season with many believing New York would call him up. In the end, his rise leveled out after posting a 5.40 ERA in 11 games with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. But, at only 20 years old, Garcia shows tremendous promise with nasty stuff on the mound.

Standing at 5-foot-9, Garcia has a mid-90s fastball that has topped out at 97 to go along with an above-average curve and slider as well as a solid changeup. Whether or not the Yankees wish to keep him as a starter or transition him to the bullpen like they did toward the end of last season is still yet to be seen.

Dominguez is about to be 17 years old (yes, you read that correctly) and he already cracks the Top 50 here. If you don't know why by now, the switch-hitting outfielder should show it in his first professional season this year.

The Yankees landed the impressive Dominguez out of the Dominican Republic last year, and they're hoping the generational talent scouts project him to be pans out. He excels in every category, and as reports have said, his abilities just don't match up with his age.

Whether it's his plus-power at the plate, his wheels around the bases, or his cannon of an arm, Dominguez is an extremely intriguing prospect that the Yankees can't wait to see develop.
