Are the Jets really having trade discussions centered around safety Marcus Maye?
It was reported Monday by the New York Daily News' Manish Mehta that the Jets have been involved in trade discussions for Maye.
However, Mike Florio of NBC Sports is reporting the opposite.

According to Florio, the Jets are "doing no such thing." A source that spoke with Florio labeled the Maye trade report "beyond fake news."
SNY's Ralph Vacchiano reports that the Jets have no interest in trading Maye at all and definitely have not been trying to trade him.
In Mehta's report, he noted that upon head coach Adam Gase's arrival in New York last season, he wanted to trade Maye. Others in the organization, though, calmed his thoughts on that due to Maye being a solid complement to Jamal Adams as the team's center fielder in the back-end of the defense.
The pick of Ashtyn Davis pick makes Maye more expenable, as Douglas has the necessary replacement for him in case he is traded.
The Jets should be cautious regarding potentially dealing Maye, though. He had a big bounce-back season in 2019 after missing 10 games in 2018 with a shoulder injury. He collected 65 tackles, seven passes defended (career high), and one interception over all 16 games.
But Douglas could be looking at getting something in return for Maye sooner rather than later. Maye, who would likely walk into free agency after finishing out his rookie deal at the end of the 2020 season (he's set to make $1.4 million), would lead to the Jets receiving a comp pick in 2022 if he signed with another team. But a trade could get the Jets draft capital for next year's draft.
