It's no secret the Ball family wants to see LaMelo in a Knicks uniform when the 2020 NBA Draft ends.
LaVar Ball has made that very clear recently, saying that his son would be a perfect fit under the bright city lights in New York.
And according to SNY's Ian Begley, LaVar isn't the only one who wants to see the 6-foot-7 guard in blue and orange next season.
Addressed in his most recent Knicks mailbag, SNY's NBA Insider Ian Begley is hearing from sources that there are others in LaMelo Ball's circle -- outside of LaVar -- who would love to see him end up in New York. It's unknown who exactly that is, but LaMelo to the Knicks would make a lot of sense.
For one, the Knicks need a new point guard, and that seems to be the way they're looking. A source confirmed to SNY that Ball is the top point guard option on the Knicks' draft board this summer.
"I'd guess most teams do," an opposing scout said about teams having Ball ranked as the No. 1 point guard.
After seeing his facilitation with Illawara in the NBL last season with the ability to get to the rack and score, the Knicks would love to have that dual threat on offense (though his defense needs to improve).
The NBA season hasn't ended and the NBA Draft lottery has yet to take place so the Knicks don't know for sure where they'll be choosing. However, at the moment, they own the No. 6 pick based off record alone. Being that Ball is one of the top point guard options in the draft, it's hard to see him falling there.
But the draft position will come in time. For now, we know that both sides seem to have an interest in each other -- and it isn't just the boisterous father of the talented young player who thinks so.
