With Vikings OC Kevin Stefanski accepting the Browns' head coach position on Sunday, former Giants head coach Pat Shurmur could be finding his way back to Minnesota next season.

SNY's Ralph Vacchiano is hearing from a source that Shurmur is expected to be a candidate to fill Stefanski's role as the Vikings' offensive coordinator. It's the same role he held with the team in 2017 before he became the Giants' head coach.

If Shurmur were to return to an offensive coordinator job after serving as a head coach, it would be the second time he's done so in his career. He joined the Browns in 2011 as their new head coach, but would only last two seasons. He, then, went to Philadelphia to become the Eagles' offensive coordinator for three seasons.

Shurmur's time with the Vikings in 2017 was impressive, especially in the development of Case Keenum that became a key factor in Minnesota's 13-3, NFC North-winning season. The offense was ranked 11th in the league with 356.9 yards per game, and 10th in scoring with 23.9 points per game.

But there is also the chance that Stefanski could scoop up Shurmur for the same role on his own staff. When Shurmur joined the Giants, he wanted to go after Stefanski on the Vikings, but Minnesota denied the request to interview him. That won't be the case for Shurmur now that he's currently searching for a new job in the NFL.

Aside from the Vikings and Browns, the Bears have emerged as contenders for Shurmur as well, according to CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora, while the Bronco's may also look to add Shurmur, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported Sunday afternoon.

So, while Giants new head coach Joe Judge is also looking to put together his staff for his first season in charge, Shurmur could be finding himself employed quickly after his departure with three intriguing spots open.
