With September upon us, the MLB allows all teams to activate anyone on their 40-man roster to join the big club throughout the month. While teams normally don't activate all of those players on the roster, bringing in some reinforcements to give players a break is usually taken advantage of.

The Yankees will definitely expand their roster, especially being slated for a playoff spot come October. Here are a few players that fans can expect to see in pinstripes this month...

LHP Justus Sheffield

If there's one player that fans are still waiting to see, it's Sheffield. The Yankees' top prospect is in the midst of a transition to the bullpen, which would suggest that's where the Yankees will use him.

Pitching primarily in Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this season, Sheffield owns a 2.63 ERA over 85.2 innings (15 starts) this season.

OF Clint Frazier

Frazier is currently working his way back from post-concussion migraines, which he began experiencing after getting sent down to Triple-A by the Yankees. It has been a long road to recovery, but he is on the final stage as he is playing in rehab games with High-A Tampa.

The 23-year-old has spent 15 games with the Yanks this season, with a .265/.390/.353 slash line over that span.

RHP Luis Cessa

Cessa will give the Yankees another added arm that manager Aaron Boone can use either out of the bullpen, or in a spot start if need be. He is another Yankee that has been up and down this season, but of late, he struggled in the Majors.

Cessa has a 5.34 ERA over 30.1 innings thus far, but has shown flashes of quality innings over his 10 appearances (four starts).

RHP Domingo German

After Jordan Montgomery was lost for the season due to Tommy John surgery, German took his place initially in the rotation. And though he had some bright moments, most of his outings were remembered as either mediocre or flat out bad. But, if promoted, he will have a chance to change that narrative.

German is currently working his way back from an ulnar nerve injury, but he could still be in consideration if the Yankees want to use him.

RHP Jonathan Loaisiga

Loaisiga had a brief stint in the Yankees' rotation, starting four games at the end of June and one in July. Despite coming directly from Double-A Trenton, he made a good first impression with a 3.00 ERA over 18 innings.

The 23-year-old would be another arm the Yankees could either put in the bullpen, or use as a starter to give a rotation player some extra rest.

INF/OF Tyler Wade

Having another utility man on board is always good in September, and Wade would be the likely choice for that. He has struggled over 25 games with the Yankees this season with a .186/.238/.305 slash line. However, Wade allows Boone to give anyone on the field some rest, while the youngster gets more big league reps.

RHP Chance Adams

Adams didn't have the major league debut he envisioned, but only two outings isn't a good enough sample size for a Top 20 prospect. So, the Yankees may want to see more from one of their top arms in their farm system.

Adams has a 8.10 ERA in the bigs, and his 4.91 Triple-A ERA isn't much to brag on either. But more reps in the majors could help ease some nervousness and anxiety he may have moving forward.
