Rangers veteran Chris Kreider hadn't played in a game yet for Team USA during the inaugural 4 Nations Face-Off, but got his chance Monday night.

And it didn't take long for the former Boston College Eagle to make the most of it while playing at TD Garden, about 25 miles from his home town of Boxford, MA.

35 seconds to be exact.

Kreider got the start against Sweden and scored on a rebound off of Zach Werenski's initial shot 35 seconds into the first period to give the United States an early 1-0 lead. It ended up being the team's only goal in a 2-1 loss.

The 33-year-old had been healthy scratches for the team's first two games -- a 6-1 win over Finland and a 3-1 win over Canada. But since the U.S. had already clinched a spot in the championship game, and due to an injury to Matthew Tkachuk, Kreider stepped in to the starting role.

It's unclear if Kreider will suit up for the final against Canada, as Tkachuk is expected to return from the lower-body injury.
