Rutgers basketball made big strides this past season, and that continued with their latest recruit.
Cliff Omoruyi, ESPN's No. 49 high school basketball prospect, announced via Twitter that he will be committing to the university for next season. He's the highest-ranked recruit for the Scarlet Knights since 2008, when Mike Rosario joined the team.

The 6-foot-10 center is remaining in New Jersey after playing his high school basketball at Roselle Catholic. After a few visits to the school, including one that saw the student section chanting "We want Cliff!," Omoruyi knew it was the right decision to make.
Other schools that were looking to land Omoruyi included Arizona State and Auburn.
Rutgers was primed to reach the NCAA Tournament after going 20-11 and 11-9 in the Big Ten under head coach Steve Pikiell, but they must wait until next year to break their streak that has stood since 1991. And they'll have some help with a talented freshman that figures to make an impact right away.
