After a crazy offseason, SG Jimmy Butler has begun the new season with the Timberwolves. But that doesn't mean teams are giving up on trading for the All-Star.

The Rockets, who were in the mix this offseason, has reportedly made a new offer to Minnesota that includes four first-round draft picks for Butler, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

The Knicks were actually among Butler's preferred landing destinations when he made it known he wanted out of Minnesota. However, president Steve Mills and GM Scott Perry said they wouldn't try to trade for someone that could set back their rebuilding process.

Though Butler is top-tier talent, trading away valuable draft picks -- like the Rockets are prepared to do -- wouldn't be worth it, especially considering Butler's free agency in 2019.

"We're not going to take shortcuts," team president Steve Mills said in October at a town hall. "We're not going to trade our draft picks. Really, we believe New Yorkers will live with a plan and buy into a plan as long as we articulate it and we live it. I've seen when there's something shiny that says 'OK, let's change direction right now because we can go get this guy.' We're not going to do that. We're going to lay out and stick to that."

Sticking to that plan, the Knicks reportedly never reached out to the Timberwolves initially, and that hasn't changed to anyone's knowledge.

If Butler is in fact traded, New York will still have free-agent options to choose from like Kawhi Leonard, Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson, DeMarcus Cousins, and Kemba Walker in 2019.
