Mets 2B Robinson Cano left Sunday's game against the Pirates with a left hamstring strain, the team announced.

Cano roped a ball down the right field line in the top of the fourth, and busted it out of the box looking for a double. But, as he turned first base, Cano abruptly stopped, hanging on to his left hamstring as he winced in pain. He stopped in the middle of the basepath where he gave himself up to be tagged out. He would limp all the way back to the dugout.

"I mean I was running and felt something tight on my left side and I stopped, but we don't know what it is yet," Cano said after the game. "We just gotta get it checked out tomorrow."

As SNY's Keith Hernandez put it, "What a shame." He says that knowing Cano has had a solid second half. He's slashing .263/.294/.538 with six homers and 13 RBI. This came after a first half that saw four homers and 18 RBI over his first 65 games with the Mets.

"Obviously that's a tough one. He started swinging the bat well," Mickey Callaway said about Cano. "It's tough."

Callaway noted that he's not sure what the severity is yet, but Cano will likely be run through tests to see how significant the damage is. He has already spent time on the IL this season with a quad injury from running as well.

Overall, Cano is hitting .245/.289/.404 with 10 homers and 31 RBI in his first season with the Mets.
