Another potential Yankees trade target has to be crossed off the list.

The Indians announced they made a deal with the Padres to land reliever LHP Brad Hand, who the Yankees had reportedly been looking at. Cleveland also acquired another bullpen arm in RHP Adam Cimber.

In exchange, Cleveland sent their top prospect, C Francisco Mejia, to San Diego. Mejia is also ranked the No. 15 prospect in all of baseball, per MLB Pipeline.

According to SNY's Andy Martino, GM Brian Cashman has been looking to add relief pitching as well as another starter before the July 31 deadline. Hand was reportedly a Yankees target, but Martino believed it would take several prospects to land the lefty specialist.

Instead, it was the Indians' best asset that got the deal done with another reliever on top of it.

Other than closer Aroldis Chapman, the Yankees haven't gotten much from their lefty specialist in Chasen Shreve, who owns a 4.54 ERA over 33.2 innings. Hand, who represented the Padres at the All-Star Game, has a 3.05 ERA over 44.1 innings this season.

With Manny Machado headed to the Dodgers as well, the Yankees are now 0-for-2, if you will, in landing potential trade targets.
