Former Giants quarterback Phil Simms thinks Eli Manning is going to become exactly that in a few short weeks, a former quarterback.

Manning had what perhaps will be his final rodeo with the Giants this past Sunday in the team's 36-20 win over the Dolphins.

The QB exited the field to an ovation from fans, but he still might need to play over the course of the final two weeks of the season. That remains to be seen.

But in regard to 2020, Simms predicts nobody will come calling for Manning.

"I do not believe he will be back in the NFL next year. He has stated clearly that he does not want to be a backup, and is somebody going to go out there and get him as a bridge quarterback? I don't think they'll do that," Simms said via CBS Sports.

At 38, as Simms states, Manning recently has gone on the record to say he doesn't want to be a coach or backup quarterback in his future. That means it's all or nothing for Manning in regard to a future employer.

This current season has also likely been a roller coaster for Manning, having been benched then thrust back into the spotlight late in the year. It's hard to imagine Manning wanting to join a similar situation with a team that has a rookie in waiting, much like these Giants.
