On Thursday, the Mets and Carlos Beltran mutually agreed to part ways, just a few days after the recently named Mets manager was named in MLB's report on the Houston Astros sign-stealing scandal.

After the news broke, some of the Mets players took to social media to weigh in.

One of those players was first baseman Pete Alonso, who at just 25 years old has already begun to establish himself as a leader within the team clubhouse.

Alonso showed his leadership ability again on Thursday, weighing in on the situation by saying the Mets players need to focus on doing their jobs on the field, and expressing his confidence in the current roster.

His tweeted ended with Alonso's signature "#LFGM" hashtag.

Alonso, of course, put together one of the most impressive rookie seasons that the game of baseball has ever seen, smashing a rookie record 53 home runs with 120 RBI.

Alonso dazzled on the field as a rookie, but he also showed a maturity level well beyond his years with the way he dealt with the media and responded to different situations within the clubhouse, including his own effort to have his teammates wear 9/11 memorial cleats even though MLB did not approve the gesture.

The NL Rookie of the Year wasn't the only current Met who weighed in on social media, as Marcus Stroman also tweeted out his thoughts.

Beltran, hired by the Mets on November 1 as the team's new manager, is now out of a job just two and a half months later.

"This was not an easy decision," Mets COO Jeff Wilpon and GM Brodie Van Wagenen said in a statement. "Considering the circumstances, it became clear to all parties that it was not in anyone's best interest for Carlos to move forward as Manager of the New York Mets. We believe that Carlos was honest and forthcoming with us. We are confident that this will not be the final chapter in his baseball career. We remain excited about the talent on this team and are committed to reaching our goals of winning now and in the future."

Beltran released a statement as well, saying the following:

"At a meeting this morning with Jeff and Brodie we mutually agreed to part ways. "I'm grateful to them for giving me the opportunity, but we agreed this decision is in the best interest of the team. I couldn't let myself be a distraction for the team. I wish the entire organization success in the future."
