The Giants fell to 0-2 after a loss to the Buffalo Bills in Week 2 on Sunday and veteran cornerback Janoris Jenkins let his thoughts fly.

Following the game, Jenkins was highly critical of his team's pass rush.

"When you've got time [to throw] and you ain't getting no pressure, I can't cover nobody for 10 seconds," Jenkins said. "Who can cover somebody for 10 seconds? Go look at the first five seconds of the route. He's not open."

That won't go over well in any locker room. Giants head coach Pat Shurmur recognized that. While he didn't say he disagreed with his defensive back, Shurmur said on Monday he spoke with Jenkins in his office earlier that same day because he was none too pleased with him venting his thoughts.

"I don't think that reflects him that well," Shurmur said. "We spoke today. I talked to him about how things that we say can be interpreted. He was referring to one play and not to anything in general. But I spoke to him and we discussed what should be said moving forward."

"Listen, we're all disappointed that we lost. We can't get frustrated. We obviously need to make sure we're saying the right things all the time," Shurmur added.

Linebacker Alec Ogletree took an approach following the game which is likely more tailored toward the one Shurmur was looking for.

"It all works hand in hand," Ogletree said when asked about Jenkins comments on a lack of pass rush. "If we don't cover well, then the pass rush won't get there. If we don't rush well, then we can't hold in coverage that long. It takes all 11 of us to get the job done. It's not we need more out of this, we need more out of everybody."

During the loss to the Bills, Buffalo ripped off 21 unanswered points after the Giants went up 7-0 when Saquon Barkley racked up 55 yards rushing and a touchdown on the game's opening drive. The Giants defense then shut down the Bills' efforts on the ensuing drive, which included a sack.

Then came the 21 unanswered by Buffalo's offense.

In the second half, the Giants defense improved and added two more sacks. But in that span of three first half drives which saw Buffalo put 21 on the board, the Big Blue defense didn't put up much of a fight, nor a sack, to Jenkins' point.

In the Giants' first two games, the defense has allowed nine touchdowns and has yet for to force a turnover.
