The NFL trade deadline is later on Thursday but a potential trade of CB Janoris Jenkins is reportedly a long way from coming to fruition.

As of late Wednesday, there was "nothing bubbling" yet on Jenkins, according to Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network.

At 2-6, the Giants have made it known that a number of their veterans -- including Jenkins -- can be had via trade.

Sources recently told SNY's Ralph Vacchiano that, while Jenkins may be considered overpriced, ""He's still good. And in this pass-happy league, everyone needs cornerbacks."

The 31-year-old Jenkins is in the second-to-last year of the five-year deal he signed before the 2016 season. Jenkins is earning $10.15 million this season and will earn $10.15 million again next season (with a cap hit of $14.75 million) before being eligible for unrestricted free agency.

The Giants, who swung a trade for Jets DL Leonard Williams on Wednesday with an eye on signing him long-term, could also move Nate Solder, Alec Ogletree, and others before the deadline.

Last Friday, Jenkins addressed the rumors.

"It don't matter where I want to be. Business is business," Jenkins said. "I just want to play football. It don't even matter. I can't control business decisions. My whole thing is to play football. ... At the end of the day, let me go be who I be. Ain't no pressure. Ain't no arguments. If you are going to let me go, let me go. Don't beat around the bush."

Jenkins is tied for second in the NFL with three interceptions, two of which came in a Week 4 win over the Redskins. He's also added 29 solo tackles, third on the team.

While Jenkins has had his struggles this season, trading him would further decimate a Giants secondary that has gotten torched for the most part this season. But with an eye on adding assets and building toward what the Giants hope will be a return to contention in 2020, all options that help toward that end should be on the table.
