Who is starting for the Mets?
RHP Noah Syndergaard (7-5, 4.33 ERA), who takes the mound with his future as a Met still very much up in the air. He threw seven innings innings in his last time out, allowing four runs (three earned) on eight hits, but issued a season-high five walks in a loss to the Padres. Syndergaard's only career appearance against the White Sox came in 2016, when he tossed an inning of scoreless relief. To this date, it's the only regular season relief appearance of Syndergaard's career.
Who is starting for the White Sox?
RHP Reynaldo Lopez (5-9, 5.52 ERA), who has rebounded nicely after the All-Star break following a rough first half of the season. He's 1-1 in three starts in the second half, but has allowed just four runs over 21 innings, striking out 25 and walking just four.
Upcoming schedule
The Mets and White Sox return to action on the South Side of Chicago Wednesday at 8:10 p.m. when Jacob deGrom (6-7, 2.86 ERA) takes on Lucas Giolito (11-5, 3.52 ERA)
