With many Mets players still at camp in Port St. Lucie, roughly 20 of them attended a meeting held by team officials on Monday morning, reported Mike Puma of the New York Post, who added that players who are still in town are working out.

According to Puma, Noah Syndergaard, Robert Gsellman, Walker Lockett, Jacob Rhame, and Franklyn Kilome were among the players in attendance on Monday.

While spring training sites remain accessible to players for now, the league sent out a memo on Sunday recommending "social distancing" in order to help prevent the spread of coronavirus.

The strong recommendation from our infectious disease and public health experts is that Clubs should avoid all activities in which players congregate in significant numbers or are otherwise unable to practice the "social distancing" protocols recommended by the CDC," the memo said. The risk of a player in a Club facility contracting the virus is real, and we must implement protocols to protect the safety and well-being of our players and staff members. In addition, we must recognize that there is the potential for further federal and state restrictions that will impact our operations, including restrictions on travel.

Late Sunday night, the CDC recommended an eight-week ban on "mass gatherings" that could potentially have an impact on when spring training resumes and/or when the regular season starts.

Mets manager Luis Rojas, the bulk of his staff, and "many" Mets players had planned to remain in Port St. Lucie as of Sunday morning, but those plans could potentially be taken out of their hands.

There is a conference call between the MLB commissioner's office and MLB clubs to update ongoing negotiations between the league and the union, which had been scheduled for 12 p.m. Monday. After that call is complete, there could potentially be more clarity regarding how the league will proceed.
