Jets running back Bilal Powell recently joined WFAN's Joe and Evan show, where he discussed the future of his NFL career.

The nine-year veteran has spent his entire career as a Jet, and he hopes to keep things that way for the rest of his time in the league.

"I just stay in my lane," said Powell. "I sit back and let things happen and unfold. I want to retire a Jet, that's the biggest thing for me."

Powell, 31, was originally a fourth-round pick of Gang Green out of Louisville in 2011 NFL Draft. In 109 career games, Powell has rushed for 3,675 yards with 15 rushing touchdowns, averaging 4.3 yards per carry.

The longest-tenured Jet, Powell signed contracts to stay in New York in 2015, 2016 and 2019. And while he's once again set to be a free agent this offseason, Powell explained that he's stuck with the Jets before, despite having chances to leave.

"For me, I just like to sit put," Powell said. "I had a couple opportunities to leave around the times that I was a free agent in previous years, but I wanted to stick around and see this thing unfold."

Appearing in 13 games last season, Powell carried the ball 59 times for 229 yards. His 3.9 yards per carry was the lowest mark of his career, aside from his rookie season when he carried the ball just 13 total times.

Le'Veon Bell, who was signed to a multi-year deal last offseason, received the lion's share of rushing attempts for Gang Green last season, toting the ball 245 times for 789 yards. Powell still managed to be the team's second leading rusher, finishing with 126 more yards than Ty Montgomery.

Powell has been a steady presence in the Jets' backfield over the past nine seasons, and if he has things his way, that's not going to change.
