The Giants will be on the clock twice during the first round of the NFL Draft.

However, that means there are two chances for them to miss -- at No. 6 and No. 17 overall.

NFL Draft expert Rich Cirminiello dished on four prospects the Giants should avoid come Thursday.

Daniel Jones, Duke, QB

"I've been outspoken about it. Daniel Jones is a good kid - coached by David Cutcliffe, I understand the lineage, the Mannings, Cutcliffe," Cirminiello said. "But Daniel Jones to me is just a mediocre quarterback. Watch the tape of him when he's pressured. He makes a lot of mistakes. Not poised in the pocket. Nice athlete out of the pocket, but as a pure pocket-passer, I think he is just average.

There's bust potential if the Giants select him in the first round.

"If there wasn't such a premium on quarterbacks, I think Daniel Jones would be a second or third round selection," Cirminiello said. "To spend No. 6 or No. 17 on this kid, would be a big mistake in my opinion. Could be Dave Brown 2.0. … I watch him at Duke, I don't know if he's an elevator of talent. I don't know if he's someone you're going to win a Super Bowl with."

Rashan Gary, Michigan, DE

Gary's lack of production over his college years unsettled Cirminiello.

"Doesn't do a great job of setting up on his moves," he added. "Relies a little too much on that freakish athleticism. Inconsistent finisher. His pursuit of the pocket is elite in my opinion."

D.K. Metcalf, Ole Miss, WR

Cirminiello still believes he might be the first receiver taken. But it's a pass for him.

"DK.. Metcalf, to me, is a feast or famine wide receiver," he said. "There are going to be games where he has a stat line of three reception for 139 yards for two touchdowns. And then the next two weeks he's going to have stat lines of two catches, nine yards. That was his career at Ole miss. He is a straight-line performer, does not have outstanding agility or change of direction.

"He has everything you want from a physical standpoint. Not a polished route-runner."

In fact, Cirminiello said he would take his former teammate A.J. Brown before him.

"I would be very cautious with Metcalf at this point," he said. "The physical ability doesn't always translate to on-field performance."

Jachai Polite, Florida, DE

"Looked like he might be a first-rounder," Cirminiello said. "Now, at best, he's slipped into the second round. I don't know what the situation is. I'm not going to speculate."

Three main factors have led to the drop, he said: lack of conditioning, lack of focus and a poor performance during interviews with teams.

"The tape is good. What he did on Saturdays is good. But if he's failing as he prepares for this process, it's a major concern of mine."
