In this Mets news conference, J.D. Martinez met the media on Saturday morning and is "super excited" to join the team and alluded to the recruiting effort by Pete Alonso to bring him on board. While he expressed some disappointment about missing Opening Day, he doesn't want to rush through his preparation. Martinez also discussed his prior relationship with teammate Mark Vientos and understands Vientos' "frustration" with losing playing time but encouraged him to be ready for whatever opportunities may arise, whether it's with the Mets or another team.
