Kevin Durant: A+

The best player on the Nets, and arguably in the league.

What critique is there to be found on 29.7 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 5.9 assists per game on 52-37-89 shooting splits? Perhaps there could be a critique if the Nets weren’t winning, but KD’s dominance has kept his team atop the East.

James Harden: C+

Durant’s co-star, on the other hand, is still working his way back into peak form. Some days he looks like the Harden of Houston, others a high-usage, low-efficiency, defense-allergic $40 million hole in the lineup.

Harden deserved a D for his first 20 games and a B+ for his recent tear, so splitting the difference seemed appropriate. Nets fans should look forward to his game continuing to improve as the year progresses.

Patty Mills: A-

From the outset, the Mills signing appeared to be a steal. However, in the absence of Kyrie Irving, Mills has played a crucial role for the Nets thus far, doing so well in it that he deserves savior status.

He’s averaging a career-high 13.2 points per game, hitting 42.1 percent of his threes on nine attempts per 36 minutes. The only reason he’s not an A or A+ is his recent dry spell.

DeAndre’ Bembry: A

Another offseason acquisition who is paying major dividends, Bembry has been an awesome connecting wing, doing the little things night in and night out. His shooting numbers are outrageous - 59.1 percent from the field and 46.2 percent from three, though he rarely attempts the latter.

Jevon Carter: C

Carter was brought in to provide some backcourt defense, which he does consistently well. The hope with him was always that he’d be able to bring some offense to the table as well.

Unfortunately that hasn’t transpired, and while he plays to his defensive niche well, don’t expect him to maintain minutes once the rotation gets short.

Bruce Brown: B

Teams are no longer being caught off guard by Brown’s miniature center shtick, but on most nights it still works well with this Nets rotation. While his minutes and floater efficiency may vary, Brown is mostly reliable in his role, though Bembry has stolen much of his shine.

Blake Griffin: D

After last year’s renaissance season and Playoffs, in which Griffin seemingly shrugged off father time, he suffered a major regression in 2021-22. The jump-shooting, interior finishing and defense he surprised us with have taken severe step backs, leaving his spot in the rotation shaky.

Griffin did have a strong stretch of games back in December. If he’s able to resurrect that level of activity, it would be a major boon to the Nets.
