MLB's Winter Meetings have officially begun in San Diego, and the Mets are looking to upgrade their 2020 roster. Here are the latest rumors for today...

Dec. 9, 11:55 PM:

Brodie Van Wagenen met with reporters at the MLB Winter Meetings in San Diego, and among the topics he discussed was whether or not the Mets expect to have outfielder Yoenis Cespedes back for the 2020 season.

"He's resumed baseball activities," Van Wagenen confirmed. "He's been swinging the bat now for several weeks, and we're hoping that he can continue his progression and hopefully make progress as we head to spring training. …He's began running as well.

"He started his running progression. He started his throwing and obviously his hitting, and hopefully he can continue to move forward.

"We have to be smart and not assume anything from anyone, and try to create talent on our roster and try to create impact. If he's at his best, he's a high-impact performer. We'll have to see how that plays out."

Dec. 9, 4:08 PM:

SNY's Andy Martino said Dellin Betances and Daniel Hudson are two names to keep an eye on at the Winter Meetings as the Mets look to bulk up their bullpen.

Dec. 9, 4:02 PM:

Mets free agent target Betances is "likely" to sign a one-year deal in an effort to increase his value and hit the market again in 2020, reports Jack Curry of the YES Network.

Curry added that Betances attended a congratulatory dinner for Carlos Beltran after Beltran was named manager of the Mets.
