During a conference call with MLB and MLBPA on Monday, the idea of playing solely in Arizona was tossed around as both sides continue to try to find a way to have a 2020 season, according to the Associated Press.

The spread of coronavirus continues around the country, but the league is still trying to make sure it can salvage some sort of season. And having it in the Phoenix area -- one that has Chase Field and 10 spring training parks for the Cactus League within 50 miles of each other -- could be the perfect landing spot.

"It allows for immediacy of a schedule, where you might be able to begin it and televise it, provide Major League Baseball to America," agent Scott Boras said. "I think players are willing to do what's necessary because I think they understand the importance of baseball for their own livelihoods and for the interest of our country and providing a necessary product that gives all the people that are isolated enjoyment."

Of course, hammering out the logistics would take some time, and there is sure to be things needing some ironing out before this idea can come to fruition. The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal broke down the issues in his latest article on Saturday, which includes "local, state and federal government cooperation and resources that might be necessary to fight the coronavirus pandemic" with all 30 teams in one spot. There is also a very small margin for error, as the report states.

Also, players would have to sign on and leave their families, not having a season that they are used to in the slightest.

"You're going to be largely separated from your families and you're going to have to function in a very contained way," Boras said. "It's not a normal life, this idea."

But, if it were to work itself out, Boras believes it won't just be something good for the game of baseball. The entire country would be able to escape what's been going on for just a little while to watch their favorite teams play.

"You talk to a psychologist about it and they say it's really good for a culture to have sports and to have a focus like that, where for a few hours a day they can take their minds off the difficult reality of the virus," he explained.

Mid-May was the earliest the league was saying it could open, but that might be extremely optimistic at this point. Players continue to stay prepared, though, with many working out at their homes waiting like the rest of us to see if and when a season will take place this year.
