Looks like we finally have some backstory info on Tylor Megill's first name.
During Monday's 4-2 win over the Milwaukee Brewers, SNY's Steve Gelbs spoke with Megill's parents in their seats at Citi Field, and the two explained what went into the interesting spelling choice for their son's name.
"Well, we had Trevor with an 'O-R' and we wanted 'Tyler' to have the same thing," Kevin Megill said. "They both have the same initial, J, as my middle initial starts with a J, and just figured we would stick with that.
"Tylor just asked everybody to spell out the 'O-R.' He loves it."
Megill's brother, Trevor, made his pitching debut for the Chicago Cubs in April -- something that Kevin said is "dreams to reality."
Tylor's start in the majors for the Mets over the last couple of weeks has been nothing but a resounding success so far.
