The Mets are trading outfielder Tommy Pham to the Arizona Diamondbacks, according to SNY MLB Insider Andy Martino.

Arizona is sending 17-year-old shortstop Jeremy Rodriguez to New York to complete the deal, according to Joel Sherman of the New York Post.

Rodriguez, a native of the Dominican Republic who bats left-handed, was the D-Backs' top international signing in January 2023, signing for $1.25 million.

This marks the second straight season that the 35-year-old has been moved ahead of the deadline.

After Carlos Correa’s deal fell through this offseason, the Mets ended up picking up Pham on a one-year, $6 million contract. Little did they know, that would end up being one of the steals of the winter.

After a bit of a slow start to the season, Pham began to settle in. While the team was struggling mightily, he quickly became one of the most productive players for the Mets offense.

In fact, Pham was one of the top offensive performers in all of baseball during the month of June. In 24 games, he put together a stellar .349 average and 1.027 OPS to go along with seven doubles, six homers and 18 RBI.

Overall on the year, he’s hitting .268/.348/.472 with 10 home runs, 36 RBI and an .820 OPS.

The veteran was bothered by a groin injury in July, but he was able to avoid the IL, despite missing a few games. Pham garnered plenty of interest on the trade market and certainly will be a nice addition for his new team.
