Every Monday, we'll be taking a look at how the Mets' top prospects (their MLB.com Mets Top 10 rankings are in parenthesis) are faring.
Andres Gimenez, SS, Double-A Binghamton (No. 1) -- ETA 2020
After being mired in a 1-for-16 slump last week, the 20-year-old shortstop showed signs of getting back on track with a hit in four of his last five games, but is still 5 for his last 20. He is hitting a slash line of .237/.294/.353 with two home runs, 14 RBI and 23 runs scored this season.
Ronny Mauricio, SS, Low-A Columbia (No. 2) -- ETA 2022
After belting his first home run of the season last week, Mauricio has fallen into a bit of a slump. The 18-year-old prospect is 5 for his last 24 and has a slash line of .211/.250/.350 over the last seven days. Mauricio still has robust numbers on the season as a whole, hitting .272/.325/.350 with seven doubles, two triples, 12 RBI and 19 runs scored in 45 games.

Mark Vientos, 3B, Low-A Columbia (No. 3) -- ETA 2021
After going on an absolute tear last week, the 19-year-old third baseman cooled off a bit. His 11-game hitting streak came to an end on Sunday, in which he hit .364 with three home runs in that span. Over his last seven games, Vientos is hitting a slash line of .269/.286/.670 with a home run and three RBI.
Shervyen Newton, SS, Low-A Columbia (No. 4) -- ETA 2022
Newton continued to shake off his bad start to the season this past week, reaching base safely in each of his last eight games and carries a five-game hitting streak into Monday, which includes two multi-hit games. The 20-year-old also blasted his first home run of the season on Friday night while 14 of his 17 hits this season have come in the month of May.

David Peterson, LHP, Double-A Binghamton (No. 5) -- ETA 2020
Peterson continues to rebound from his April 29 implosion in which he allowed seven runs in 1.2 innings. Since then, he has allowed one or fewer earned runs in each of his starts and has lowered his ERA from 6.88 to 3.82. He allowed two unearned runs his last start but picked up the win by striking out eight and allowing just three hits and two walks over five innings of work.
Simeon Woods Richardson, RHP, Low-A Columbia (No. 6) -- ETA 2022
After allowing five earned runs in four consecutive starts, Woods Richardson appeared to be back on track in his latest outing, allowing two earned runs over four innings of work on five hits while striking out five and walking none. The 18-year-old tossed 72 pitches -- his second-most this season -- and tied a season-high with 13 swinging strikes as he tries to show he can maintain his stuff deep into outings.
MetsBlog contributor Joe DeMayo profiled Woods Richardson here.
Anthony Kay, LHP, Double-A Binghamton (No. 7) -- ETA Late-2019
Kay continued to make his case for a promotion to Triple-A this past week, tossing seven no-hit innings on May 20 and allowing just two earned runs on Sunday over 5.2 innings despite allowing six hits and three walks. He now has an ERA of .128 with batters hitting just .146 against him.
Kay could potentially help the Mets later this season, and was recently profiled by SNY contributor Joe DeMayo here and sat down with SNY on his 2019 season here.
Thomas Szapucki, LHP, Short-A Brooklyn (No. 8) -- ETA 2021
The 22-year-old who is recovering from Tommy John surgery did not pitch this past week and was re-assigned from Low-A Columbia to the Brooklyn Cyclones on the New York Penn League, whose season does not begin until June 14. He has made four starts and two relief appearances this season, allowing two earned runs in 8.1 innings pitched with 11 strikeouts.
Szapucki is believed to have lots of upside, with a 92-97 mph fastball and power breaking ball, according to MLB.com's scouting report.
