The Mets fell to the Marlins on Wednesday, 3-2, on a walk-off two-run blast.
Here are some takeaways from Wednesday's game:
1. Francisco Lindor stayed hot at the plate – batting from the left side, he went oppo in all three of his at-bats, recording two singles and a deep flyout to left. It was his third-consecutive 2-for-3 effort, and he has bumped his spring average from .125 to .280 in his last four games (7-for-12, .583).
2. Joey Lucchesi got the start and did not disappoint. He walked a batter in each of his first two innings, but picked off Jazz Chisholm in the second to clean up his own mess. In all, he tossed three, hitless innings while striking out four batters.
3. Luis Guillorme, who along with his solid defense, is potentially playing his way to be the starting third baseman on Opening Day. After a 1-for-3 afternoon, he is hitting .316 in spring training.
4. Albert Almora gave the Mets the lead with a two-run double to right-center. There was miscommunication between the Marlins' center and right fielder, causing the ball to drop untouched, but two runs are two runs.
5. Robert Gsellman allowed a solo home run in the fifth inning that opened up the game’s scoring. Yennsy Diaz allowed a walk-off two-run home run to Joe Dunand.
6. Jacob Barnes, Tommy Hunter, and Stephen Tarpley combined for three shutout innings in relief.
