Five Takeaways from Tuesday's game

1) Marcus Stroman pitched what was easily his best game as a Met. The right-hander breezed through seven innings, allowing just four hits and holding the Rockies scoreless in the notoriously batter-friendly Coors Field. All four hits allowed by Stroman were singles, and the Rockies only moved one runner into scoring position against Stroman all night. Stroman's previous start against Arizona, when he went 6.1 and allowed just one earned, combined with Tuesday's strong outing should give Mets fans a lot to like.

2) Amed Rosario started the scoring for the Mets in what would be a four-run top of the sixth inning. With a runner on, Rosario deposited a two-run home run over the wall in left field. The shortstop's 13th home run of the year gave the Mets a 2-0 lead, breaking up what had been a scoreless pitching duel between Stroman and Rockies starter Tim Melville.

3) Two batters later, Brandon Nimmo joined the fun, blasting a solo shot of his own. With friends and family watching, the Cheyenne, Wyo. native hit his second home run in as many nights at Coors Field. Hitting out of the leadoff spot once again, Nimmo reached base twice with his home run and a walk.

4) Pete Alonso regained the NL home run lead over Cincinnati's Eugenio Suarez as the Mets' first baseman launched his 48th home run of the season to cap off the sixth inning. Alonso was given the green light on a 3-0 fastball, and he did not miss it, slamming a 467-foot big fly. Alonso is on pace to finish with 51 home runs, but he could still surpass Aaron Judge's rookie record of 52

5) Four Mets recorded multi-hit games on Tuesday: Rosario, Alonso, Todd Frazier and Wilson Ramos. Michael Conforto and Jeff McNeil, meanwhile, where the only two Mets in the starting lineup to not record a hit.
