Six things to know about Sunday's game
1) Syndergaard (1-2, 5.90 ERA) allowed six runs (four earned) and eight hits in five innings. In five starts this season, he has allowed at least four runs four times.
2) Pete Alonso, Syndergaard, Robinson Cano and Michael Conforto each hit solo homers, however the Mets wet 0-for-4 with runners in scoring position and left eight runners on base.
3) After Alonso's solo homer off Dakota Hudson in the first inning gave the Mets a 1-0 lead, Syndergaard allowed three runs in the second inning on a Kolton Wong RBI single and Paul Goldschmidt two-run single.
4) In the third, Yadier Molina drove in Marcell Ozuna with a groundout, and Dexter Fowler hit an RBI double to make it 5-1.
5) Manager Mickey Callaway was ejected in the top of the seventh inning for arguing after Cano was hit on the right hand by a pitch but umpires ruled it a foul ball. Juan Lagares struck out to complete the at-bat, and Conforto followed with a solo homer to make it a 6-4 game.
6) Hudson (1-1, 5.89 ERA) allowed three runs and five hits in five innings for the Cardinals.
