Despite taking a shutout into the seventh inning, Mets RHP Noah Syndergaard was charged with four runs and six hits in 6 1/3 innings in Monday's 6-4 win over the Cincinnati Reds at Citi Field.

Syndergaard struck out six batters and allowed just four hits through the first six innings, but failed to retire any of the final four batters he faced, leaving the game in the bullpen's hands.

"I didn't feel like I had the best stuff in terms of mechanically, in terms of stuff," Syndergaard said after the game. "I was able to go out there and survive through six and just kind of ran out of gas in the seventh."

After getting Tucker Barnhart to ground out to begin the seventh inning, Syndergaard hit Preston Tucker and Phillip Ervin before allowing a single to Billy Hamilton that loaded the bases. Jose Peraza knocked Syndergaard out of the game with an RBI single.

While relievers Bobby Wahl and Robert Gsellman allowed all of Syndergaard's inherited runners to score on a bases-loaded walk to Joey Votto and a two-run Eugenio Suarez single, the Reds weren't able to score further off New York's bullpen.

"At that point," Syndergaard said, "the offense had supplied enough runs for us to win the ballgame and the bullpen came in and shut it down."

Syndergaard had been 2-1 with a 2.65 ERA in three starts since returning from a finger injury and started off strong again Monday. His strikeout of Suarez in the third inning to escape a two-on, two-out jam began a stretch of eight straight batters retired.
