Pete Alonso and Jacob deGrom both turned in fantastic seasons in 2019 and now have the chance to earn the awards to go along with them.

Alonso was named as a finalist for National League Rookie of the Year following one of the best rookie seasons in recent memory. He broke Aaron Judge's record for most home runs by a rookie with 53, and slashed .260/.358/.583 in 161 games in 2019.

He'll finish in the Top 3 of Rookie of Year voting along with Braves pitcher Mike Soroka and Padres shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. The winners in both leagues will be announced on Monday, Nov. 11.

DeGrom, meanwhile, has a chance for his second consecutive Cy Young Award after posting an 11-8 record with a 2.43 ERA. He led the National League with 255 strikeouts and walked just 44 hitters over 204 innings.

His fellow finalists include Dodgers' left-hander Hyun-Jin Ryu and the Nationals' Max Scherzer. The Cy Young Award winners will be announced on Wednesday, Nov. 13.

DeGrom would be the first Mets pitcher since Tom Seaver to win multiple Cy Young Awards, though Seaver did not do so consecutively. The last pitcher to do that was Clayton Kershaw, who won the award for the Dodgers in 2013 and 2014.
