A fan at Citi Field helped Mets first baseman Pete Alonso record a first-inning triple in Sunday's 5-2 win over the Brewers.

Alonso lined a pitch to deep left field. As Brewers left fielder Ryan Braun leapt on the warning track, a fan reached below, spilling his beer over Braun after the ball went passed Braun's outstretched glove and caromed off the wall.

"It's kind of funny I guess," Alonso told reporters of the play. "We got some pretty loyal fans, which is awesome. That's a tough situation on [Braun]. It's kind of a strange play altogether."

Replay review upheld the call that there was no definitive fan interference and that the ball did not clear the fence. Alonso scored two batters later on Todd Frazier's RBI single, and the Mets rookie wishes he could have helped the fan since he helped the team.

"If I could, I would've bought him a beer," Alonso said. "The Mets need to get that guy a beer, or a free drink voucher."
