In this Mets news conference, Mets GM Billy Eppler talks about the decision to option both Brett Baty and Mark Vientos to Triple-A Syracuse. In the case of Baty, Eppler referenced third basemen like Nolan Arenado, Rafael Devers and Austin Riley, who all played over 300 games at third base in the minor leagues, before establishing themselves as major league regulars. Eppler says the organization feels there's still room for development in both players but that, "they're only a phone call away."
