The Mets have officially released pitcher Drew Gagnon, the team announced on Friday.

It was reported on Wednesday that Gagnon is close to a deal to pitch for a team in the KBO in Korea.

The 29-year-old RHP made 18 relief appearances for the Mets in 2019, going 3-1 with a 8.27 ERA in 23.2 innings pitched, which wasn't that different from his 2018 season with the Mets, where he went 2-1 with a 5.25 ERA in 12 innings pitched.

Gagnon was technically under Mets control through the 2024 season and wasn't eligible for arbitration until the 2021 season. He signed with the team on Dec. 22, 2017 after playing in both the Milwaukee Brewers and Los Angeles Angels minor league systems.
