Here's the latest news and buzz on the Mets' top prospects...

INF Luisangel Acuña, Triple-A Syracuse

After a very slow start to the season, the 22-year-old finished April strong and has kept on rolling in May.

While he saw his 10-game hitting streak snapped earlier this week, Acuna has been a hit machine of late, including a two-hit performance against the Iowa Cubs, including a double a run scored, on Saturday night.

Acuna was hitting just .197 on April 19, but that average has risen up to .231 to go along with a .609 OPS, 29 runs scored and 14 steals.

RHP Dom Hamel, Triple-A Syracuse

Hamel has not had the season that he or the Mets organization had hoped for to this point, but he delivered his best start of the month of May his last time out.

Facing Iowa on Friday night, Hamel allowed three earned runs over 4.2 innings. He only allowed one hit on the night, but his command was an issue once again, as he walked four Cubs.

Overall, Hamel has a 6.48 ERA and 1.74 WHIP on the season.

RHP Blade Tidwell, Double-A Binghamton

Coming off of his worst start of the season, Tidwell bounced back in a big way against Bowie.

The 22-year-old took the mound on Thursday night, allowing just one run, a solo home run, over 6.0 terrific innings. Tidwell only allowed four hits and struck out six.

One of the top pitching prospects in the organization, Tidwell now has an ERA of 2.41 for the season.

RHP Jonah Tong, High-A Brooklyn

Tong proved that he's human this week, as he finally had one shaky start.

The righty allowed three runs (two earned) over 3.2 innings against Bowling Green, striking out four and walking two. Tong's ERA with Brooklyn had been a minuscule 1.00, so it jumped up a bit to 2.13 after this most recent outing. Still, Tong is proving himself as a bit of a hidden gem within the Mets' pitching ranks.

Here are some thoughts on Tong's potential, from SNY contributor Joe DeMayo.

Two-way player Nolan McLean, High-A Brooklyn

Dubbed "Cowboys Ohtani," McLean continues to wow. Starting on Thursday night, McLean struck out a career-best nine hitters, allowing just one unearned run over 5.0 innings against Bowling Green. His season ERA sits at 2.47, with a WHIP of 1.07.

As a hitter, McLean went 0-for-10 in three games this week, and while his batting average on the season is just .219, his .516 slug tells you that when he's hitting the ball, he's hitting it hard.
