Mets INF/OF Jeff McNeil had surgery for the fractured wrist he suffered during the last week of the season, posting an upbeat message on Instagram afterwards:

McNeil said last Thursday that he should be "good to go" for Spring Training.

"They said this is kind of no big deal," McNeil explained about the surgery he expects to take place on Tuesday. "Recovery time is quick after surgery, they said. They have no worries."

"I would imagine," McNeil said when asked if he would be ready for spring training in February. "I should be good to go. ... Should be no problem."

McNeil suffered a right distal ulnar fracture during the sixth inning on Wednesday night at Citi Field when Marlins LHP Josh Smith hit him with an 89 MPH fastball.

McNeil followed up his terrific rookie season with an even more impressive second season in the majors, hitting .318/.384/.531 with 23 homers, 38 doubles, one triple and 75 RBI.

With Todd Frazier expected to depart via free agency and the Mets' outfield looking full at the moment, the present expectation is that McNeil will be the Mets' regular third baseman in 2020.
