The Mets have already signed four of their six 2020 MLB Draft picks, and their top two selections could be following suit in the near future.

According to Tim Britton of The Athletic, the Mets are "getting close on a deal" with first-round pick Pete Crow-Armstrong

The 20th-ranked prospect in this year's draft according to MLB Pipeline, the left-handed hitting outfielder Crow-Armstrong was selected by the Mets with the 19th overall pick.

"Pete stood out because he was so far up the board that regardless of position, regardless of college, high school, pitcher, it didn't matter (because of how much he stood out)," general manager Brodie Van Wagenen said the night Crow-Armstrong was drafted. "... He was a guy that we had targeted for months and months."

"We see Pete as a top-of-the-order type hitter," Mets scouting director Tommy Tanous said. "He has such advanced bat-to-ball skills. ... High contact guy, with some power behind it. And it's been increasing power since he was 15 years old. He keeps getting stronger. His path to the ball has been great. His plate awareness is tremendous, his discipline at the plate.

"He has all the makings of the hitters we've drafted in the past, the same similarities to him. On top of that, he's a little bit faster than your average player. He's gonna be able to leg out hits and at the same time drive the ball into the gap. He has a lot of weapons on his side."

The Mets still need to sign second-round pick J.T. Ginn, which they are expected to do.

The Mets have already reportedly agreed to deals with outfielder Isaiah Greene, shortstop Anthony Walters, catcher Matthew Dyer and right-hander Eric Orze, with Walters and Orze getting $20,000 signing bonuses, both significantly under the slot value.

The 2020 Draft for the Mets was really all about their first three picks in Crow-Armstrong, Ginn, and Greene, and with Greene already agreeing to a deal, it sounds like the team will be able to sign every one of their picks, which is especially important in a draft that only had five rounds.
