To make room on the roster for Christian Scott, who is returning to the rotation on Wednesday night, the Mets have designated reliever Matt Festa for assignment.
Festa made one appearance for the Mets, getting hit hard on June 30.
In 1.0 inning of work against the Houston Astros at Citi Field, he allowed four runs on five hits while walking one and striking out one.
The Mets made another move on Tuesday in an effort to strengthen their depleted bullpen.
Jose Butto, who had been working as a starter for Triple-A Syracuse, was called up to work in relief.
That move paid immediate dividends, with Butto firing 2.0 scoreless innings in the Mets' extra-innings win over the Nationals in Washington, D.C.
