Brandon Nimmo was right the whole time.

The Mets outfielder contended on Thursday that the undercooked chicken that gave him food poisoning was fine and on Friday he received justification.

In an unexpected turn of events, the Mets outfielder's wife revealed on Twitter Friday morning that his test results came in and it was a stomach virus that made him so ill this week.

"Cancel all the cooking lessons, he's good!" Chelsea Jane Nimmo tweeted.

The 25-year-old outfielder was kept out of Thursday's game because he fell ill early Wednesday morning, losing four pounds, due to what was believed to be food poisoning from eating undercooked chicken that Nimmo prepared himself.

Mets manager Mickey Callaway joked that the team was going to need to teach him how to cook when he learned the apparent reason for the illness.

Teammate Keon Broxton decided to go with the gross angle, joking that Nimmo has found another way to "produce the 'runs.'"

Nimmo took it all in stride on Thursday, acknowledging someone else may have to handle the cooking for him, but was not ready to take the full blame.

"It could have been someone handling the chicken. ... I don't know, I cooked it all the way through -- it was white," Nimmo said. "I don't have a meat thermometer so maybe I should invest in one of those."

Well it appears he can hold off on that investment for now.
